Watching your bandwidth usage is also helpful especially if you only signed up for a specific bandwidth max each month.
Aside from setting up a password, setting up a firewall can also protect your wireless broadband connection. A firewall gives you an additional extra layer of protection from hackers who can do some damage to your computer. The good news is that a lot of wireless routers have an integrated firewall for your protection. This protects you from some people who hack computers just for fun.
Of course, it is also advisable to get an anti-virus for your computer. It does not only protect your wireless broadband connection but also the entire network you are in as well as your own computer.
